Cruise Control: Adjustments

BRAKE RELEASE SWITCHES
Electrical & Vacuum Switches
Push the switch fully into the retaining clip, then pull the brake pedal upward to adjust switch position. The electrical switch should break the electrical circuit when the brake pedal is depressed approximately .23---.51 inch.

SERVO, ADJUST
Models With Rod
Install the pin retainer to provide minimum slack with carburetor in slow idle position.
Models With Bead Chain
Assemble the chain into swivel and install retainer so that slack in the chain is not greater than one-half the diameter of the ball stud with the engine at operating temperature and the idle solenoid de-energized.
Models With Cable
1. With cable installed in cable and servo brackets, rotate throttle lever so that stud aligns with hole in end of cable.
2. Engage cable with throttle lever stud, then release throttle lever.
3. Hold throttle lever position and pull cable taut from servo end.
4. Connect servo end of cable to servo actuator with pin, using hole which most closely aligns with cable end. Do not stretch cable or open throttle to align cable, as this will not allow engine to return to idle.

CRUISE SPEED, ADJUST
On 1984---85 vehicles, cruise speed is controlled by the electronic controller and is not adjustable.



1982---83
The cruise speed adjustment can be set as follows:
1. If car cruises below engagement speed, screw orifice tube on transducer outward.
2. If car cruises above engagement speed, screw orifice tube inward. Each 1/4 turn of the orifice tube will change cruise speed about one mile per hour. Snug up locknut after each adjustment.
