Assemble
1982 Chevrolet Citation L4-151 2.5LSECTION Assemble
NOTE: Lubricate all components with Dexron II automatic transmission fluid prior to reassembly.
1. Using tool No. J-28406, install input shaft bearing onto input shaft.
2. Position 3rd gear on input shaft. Install blocking ring onto gear cone, then press 3-4 synchronizer onto shaft using a length of pipe of suitable diameter or other suitable tool. Do not press on sleeve portion of synchronizer, press on hub near shaft
3. Install 3-4 synchronizer snap ring. Position snap ring with beveled edges away from synchronizer.
4. Install blocker ring.
5. Install 4th gear on shaft, then press bearing onto shaft usin tool No. J-6133A. On 198-85 models, the 4th gear and bearing may be slid onto the input shaft.
