Subject: NEW DESIGN SELECTIVE WASHER 1982-83 THM 200C AND 200-4R
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
This bulletin is being reissued to correct the implementation date of the new design selective washer from March, 1983 to June 17, 1983.
Beginning in late March, 1983, a new design selective washer went into production that is used on the following parts:
^ Turbine shaft to output shaft - THM 200C.
^ Forward clutch shaft to output shaft - THM 200-4R.

These parts are made from a different material and can be identified as shown in Figure 1.
When servicing any THM 200C and 200-4R or transmission that necessitates the replacement of the selective washer due to wear or damage, follow the service procedure on the following page.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the two (2) shafts for wear or damage on the selective washer mating surfaces. If wear or damage is found, replace the shafts to prevent future wear.
2. Select the proper selective washer from the chart below:

3. Check the front end play to verify the proper washer selection, following procedures outlined in your service manual. Front end play should be 0.56 mm - 1.30 mm (0.022 - 0.051 in.).
