Fig. 9 Cylinder head bolt tightening sequence:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove cam cover.
3. Remove timing belt. It will not be necessary to remove lower cover and damper.
4. Remove camshaft.
5. Remove glow plug resistor wires and injector lines.
6. Remove fuel return line hose.
7. Raise vehicle and disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
8. Lower vehicle and remove oil feed pipe at rear of cylinder head.
9. Disconnect upper radiator hose.
10. Remove cylinder head bolts. Remove cylinder head and gasket.
11. Reverse procedure to install, tighten cylinder head bolts in sequence shown in Fig. 9.
