1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect ignition switch battery feed wire, then if equipped, the tachometer lead from distributor cap. Do not use a tool of any kind to release locking tabs.
3. Remove distributor cap by turning four retaining latches counterclockwise, then position cap aside.
4. Disconnect 4 terminal ECM harness connector from distributor.
5. If necessary, disconnect spark plug cables from cap.
6. Remove distributor clamp screw, then the hold-down clamp.
7. Note position of rotor, then pull distributor up until rotor just stops turning counterclockwise and again note position of rotor. To ensure correct timing of distributor it must be installed with rotor correctly positioned as described.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
9. Adjust ignition timing.
