Ignition Switch: Service and Repair
1999 Cadillac Seville SLS V8-4.6L VIN YSECTION Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Apply the parking brake.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable. This will maintain the key code.
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
3. Disable the SIR system. Service and Repair
4. Remove the radio or the navigation display module.
5. Remove the AC/heater control head.
6. Remove the knee bolster.
7. Remove the steering column.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition switch.
9. Disconnect the park lock cable from the ignition switch. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD) in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.
10. Remove the ignition switch cylinder.
11. Remove 1 fastener from the access hole in the IP at the steering column opening.
12. Remove 2 fasteners from the radio opening hole. One fastener (2) is at the top of the opening and the other fastener is near the opening edge. The head of the screw is facing forward. This is a blind fastener. It can not be seen when installed.
13. Rotate the switch in the IP.
14. Remove the ignition switch through the radio opening.
15. Remove the fasteners (1 2, 3) securing the ignition switch bracket to the switch.
16. Remove the ignition switch bracket from the ignition switch.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the ignition switch housing bracket to the switch.
2. Install the fasteners (1, 2, 3).
3. Install the ignition switch into the radio opening.
4. Install the 2 fasteners to the radio opening hole, one fastener (2) is at the top of the opening and the other fastener is near the opening edge.
5. Install 1 fastener to the access hole in IP at steering column opening.
6. Install the ignition switch cylinder to the ignition switch housing.
7. Install the park lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD) in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.
8. Connect the electrical connectors.
9. Install the steering column.
10. Install the knee bolster.
11. Install the AC/heater control head.
12. Install the radio or the navigation display module.
13. Enable the SIR system.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
15. Release the parking brake.
