Preliminary Alignment Inspection

1999 Cadillac Seville SLS V8-4.6L VIN YSECTION Preliminary Alignment Inspection
Perform the following front end inspection before making any adjustments affecting the wheel alignment:
1. Check for the proper inflation pressure of the tires. Refer to Tires/Specifications.
2. Inspect for excessive wear on the hub and on the bearing assemblies.
3. Inspect the following components:
- The ball joints
- The tie rod ends

4. Inspect the tires and the wheels for run out.
5. Check the vehicle trim heights. Refer to Trim Height Specifications in Suspension General Diagnosis. Make any needed corrections to trim height before you adjust the caster, the camber, or the toe-in.
6. Inspect for looseness of the steering gear on the crossmember.
7. Inspect the shock absorbers for leaks. Check the shock absorbers for noise.
8. Inspect for looseness of the control arms or looseness of the stabilizer shaft attachments.
9. Inspect the alignment equipment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
10. The vehicle must be on a level surface.
