KNOCK SENSOR REPLACEMENT - POSITION 2

Preliminary Procedures
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling. Service and Repair
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle. Vehicle Lifting
3. Remove the heat shield fasteners and reposition the heat shield to gain access to the knock sensor.

Knock Sensor

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Procedure
1. The knock sensor will not fit between the engine and transmission. It must be removed from over the transmission.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
Tighten 18 N.m (13 lb.ft.)
