Generator Replacement (L36)

1999 Buick LeSabre V6-3.8L VIN KSECTION Generator Replacement (L36)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE




CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the front generator support brace.
5. Remove the generator mounting bolts.




6. Remove the rear pencil brace bolt.
7. Remove the output terminal nut.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector.




9. Remove the generator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE



1. Position the generator on the vehicle.
2. Connect the generator electrical connector.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the output terminal nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




4. Install the generator mounting bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

5. Install the front generator support brace

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (15 lb ft).




6. Install the rear pencil brace.
7. Install the rear pencil brace bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

8. Install the engine cover.
9. Install the drive belt.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the cable nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
