Kick-Down Switch
Vehicles with M43 and M52 engines:
The EGS control module receives the signal for kick-down shifts via a line and a switch to ground. The switch must be adjusted such as to enable driving under full load, i.e. 100 % pedal-position sensor position and the kick-down shift only takes place when the accelerator pedal is further pressed.
Vehicles with N42, M54 engine as well as diesel models:
The signal for kickdown shifting is sent from the Accelerator Pedal Module (FPM) to the engine management system. The engine management system converts the drive control and kickdown detection into a corresponding CAN bus message and sends this to the EGS control.
