E31, E32, E34, E36 and E38
Situation:
The EPROM Replacement/Application chart is to be used as a quick reference table whenever a CUSTOMER COMPLAINT is received and it is deemed necessary to replace an EPROM in either the engine control module (DME) or in the transmission control module (AGS/EGS). The chart contains the following information:
^ Model:
Model for which EPROM is applicable
^ Engine:
Specific engine application
^ Body:
Body style for which EPROM applies
^ Control Module:
Specific control module version into which EPROM can be installed.
^ Production:
Production date range for which EPROM can be used.
^ Application:
Specific problem or fault that EPROM will address.
^ S.I. Reference:
Location where more detailed information can be obtained
^ Part Number:
Specific BMW part number that can be ordered
^ Tester ID/ Software #:
(Transmission Control Module ONLY) - If this number/code is displayed on the control module identification screen, then that part number is already installed and a more detailed troubleshooting procedure must be followed.
Two laminated charts will be sent to every automotive BMW dealer at a cost of $2.00 per chart.

Additional EPROM charts can be ordered from Product/Service Engineering (using the enclosed pre-printed order form).
