Situation:

The chart is to be used as a quick reference table whenever a CUSTOMER COMPLAINT is received and it is deemed necessary to replace an EPROM in either the engine control module(DME) or in the transmission control module (AGS/EGS). The chart contains the following information:

^ Model Model for which EPROM is applicable
^ Engine Specific engine application
^ Body Body style for which EPROM applies
^ Control Module Specific control module version into which EPROM can be installed.
^ Production Production date range for which EPROM can be used.
^ Application Specific problem or fault that EPROM will address.
^ S.I. Reference Location where more detailed information can be obtained
^ Part Number Specific BMW part number that can be ordered
^ Tester ID/Software #.. (Transmission Control Module ONLY) - If this number/code is displayed
on the control module identification screen, then that part number is
already installed and a more detailed troubleshooting procedure must be followed.

Two laminated charts will be sent to every automotive BMW dealer at a cost of $2.00 per chart.

Additional EPROM charts can be ordered from Product/Service Engineering (using the enclosed pre-printed order form).
