- The remaining material serves as a base for the new adhesive sealant being applied.
Keep adhesive surface free of dirt and grease. Only cut back adhesive surface shortly before installation. Do not prime or use a cleaning solution on the adhesive surface.
- Replace gap cover at top window edge. Refer to => [ Replacing Gap Cover ] Windshield Overview.
With New Window:
- Clean adhesion area around edge of window with glass cleaner ( D 009 401 04 ).

Ceramic application on window is not primer! It must be primed before the application of adhesive sealing material!
Applying Primer
- Apply primer - 2 - evenly in one motion using - 1 -.
- Begin applying with saturated felt.
- Drying time is approximately 10 minutes.
- Primer width dimension - a - approx. 20 mm.
- Apply primer in center of adhesive bead.
Dimensions for Adhesive Application
- Adhesive bead - 1 -.
- Primer - 2 -.
- Window - 3 -.
- Dimension - a - = 8 mm.
- Dimension - b - = 12 mm.
- Dimension - c - = 8 mm to edge of window (all around).
Reworking the Window Glass Flange
- If windshield flange has been repaired or replaced, paint structure should be restored according to specifications in repair information, vehicle-paint and if necessary, corrosion repair measures should be taken according to guidelines in surface technology/chemical materials folder.
- Clean the surface with D 009 401 04 and then prime it with D 009 200 02.
- After performing preparatory work, cut tip off nozzle as shown.
- Dimension - a - 12 mm.
- 8 mm wide adhesive bead.
- - Arrow - indicates direction of application
• Cross-section thickness of adhesive bead is determined by dimension of opening in nozzle tip and rate of application.
- Apply adhesive sealing material along perimeter according to illustration.
- Distance from the center of the adhesive bead to the window edge: 8 mm
- Using double suction cups, install the windshield.
Window must be installed within 15 minutes, otherwise bonding properties of adhesive will be impaired.
- Center window along sides.
- Spacing between edge of windshield and roof frame must be 4 mm.
