Airbag Control Module
Removing
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
- If the control module is replaced, select "Replace" function for respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding".
- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.
- Remove center console. Refer to => [ Center Console ] Center Console.
Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Open securing clip - 3 - on connector - 4 -.
- Remove connector - 4 -.
- Remove nuts - 2 - (quantity: 3).
- Remove Airbag Control Module (J234) - 1 - toward left.
Installation
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- When installing a new Airbag Control Module (J234), a new cover must be bonded on. Refer to => [ Airbag Control Module Cover ] Airbag Control Module Cover.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
• After exchanging the Airbag Control Module (J234) it must be coded in "Guided Fault Finding".
