Removing
- Remove the glove compartment.
- Remove screw clips - A - (different versions - C - and - D -) and remove insulation mat - B -.
- Remove bolt - A - (if present).
- If necessary, remove cable ties which bind wiring harness to fresh air blower housing - C -.
Heat sink on Fresh Air Blower Control Module may be hot.
- Disengage locking mechanism - B - and rotate fresh air blower housing - C - in direction of arrow.
• Connection between fresh air blower housing - C - and A/C unit may be sealed with sealing compound, in this case a great use of force is required for rotating.
• Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J126) and Fresh Air Blower (V2) are installed in housing - C -. On the version that was installed up to model year 2007, both components were cast with each other and thus cannot be replaced separately. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
Do not grasp fan wheel of Fresh Air Blower, force against the fan wheel or shifting the balancing weights fastened to fan wheel may cause imbalance and then problems during operation.
- Remove fresh air blower housing - C - from the A/C unit.
- Disconnect connector - D -.
Installing
Reinstall all removed components in the opposite sequence while observing the following:
• When installing, make sure the fresh air blower fits correctly inside the A/C unit.
• After installing, check seat of fresh air blower housing in A/C unit and function of Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J126).
- Check DTC memory of Climatronic Control Module (J255) and erase malfunctions displayed if necessary using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding."
- Perform Basic Setting and output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) of A/C system and check DTC memory again using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding."
