Compressor, Removing From Bracket
2012 Audi A3 (8PA) L4-2.0L Turbo (CCTA)SECTION Compressor, Removing From Bracket
Compressor, Removing From Bracket
• The A/C compressor can be removed and installed at the bracket without opening the refrigerant lines.
• In the following, removal and installation of compressor is described for a vehicle with a 2.0 L gasoline engine with a Denso compressor of type 7 SEU 16. On vehicles with different engine or a different A/C compressor, slight changes may result (depending on engine, additional assemblies may need to be removed or loosened)
• Do not discharge the refrigerant circuit, do not remove refrigerant hoses and lines from the A/C compressor.
• Do not unfasten refrigerant pipes and corresponding clamps.
• After removing, tie the A/C compressor to the longitudinal member with wire. Never leave hanging from refrigerant pipes.
• Before removing, mark direction of operation of ribbed belt with chalk or felt-tipped pen. Reversing the direction of rotation of a run-in belt can destroy the belt.
• Different compressors may be installed depending on the engine and country. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.
Removing The A/C Compressor From The Bracket
- Remove the engine cover (depending on engine, not necessary for all engine types).
- Remove center noise insulation.
- Remove the noise insulation frame , if equipped (for example, currently on the Audi A3 Cabrio).
- Mark running direction of ribbed belt (illustration shows arrangement for a 4 cylinder engine).
- Release the tension on the ribbed belt and remove it.
• The illustrations shows the location of the ribbed belt on a 2.0L FSI engine. The location may be different on other 4 cylinder engine.
- Disconnect electrical connection to A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280) at harness connector - 1 -.
- Remove three mounting bolts - arrows - (tightening specification: 25 Nm).
- Remove the A/C compressor and tie it to the vehicle with a wire.
Attaching the A/C compressor to the bracket
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
- Before securing A/C compressor, check seating of both bushings - arrow - in bracket or A/C compressor.
- Install one washer each at mounting bolts - arrows - (tightening specification: 25 Nm).
- After fastening the A/C compressor, check installation position of refrigerant lines, lines must be engaged in bracket (if installed, depending on engine).
- After attaching the A/C compressor, also check refrigerant pipes and corresponding holders for adequate clearance with respect to other components, ensuring sufficient distance between belt, holder and pulley.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
