2007 BMW X3 — What You Need to Know

  • BMW X3 N52 engine uses ELECTRIC power steering — the belt routing does NOT include a PS pump pulley
  • Gates K060885 is the correct 6-rib belt for the N52 2.5i/3.0i. The 2.0i (N46) uses a shorter belt — verify your engine code
  • Tensioner is automatic — if belt is squealing or slipping, inspect tensioner for wear before replacing belt only
  • If belt has shredded, inspect all pulleys for bearing failure before installing new belt
Torque Specs

Tensioner mounting bolt: 26 ft-lbs

Belt Routing

Clockwise from crankshaft: over AC compressor → alternator → water pump → idler pulley → back to spring tensioner. No power steering pump (electric steering on X3).

Safety Warnings
