VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), connecting

Starting with 1994 m.y. Golf and Jetta vehicles are equipped with a new 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC).

This connector is used for access to the vehicle's On Board Diagnostic (OBD) systems using the VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST).

Test Requirements:
^ Battery Positive Voltage (8+) OK
^ Fuse 22 (S22) OK
^ Ground (GND) connections on engine and transmission OK (location: below lower part of intake manifold
^ A/C switched OFF




For access to the Data Link Connector (DLC):
- Remove front ashtray.
- Slide small cover to the left -arrow-.
- With ignition switched OFF, connect VAG 1551/3 adapter harness between Data Link Connector (DLC) and VAG 1551 Scan Tool.
