Refer to Fig. 1, when performing this procedure.
1. Remove contact unit (coil spring) mounting screw, then the contact unit.
2. Remove contact unit support plate, then the wear guard.
3. Remove plastic nut, then the retaining ring at upper steering column shaft bearing.
4. Remove rubber bushing with lower bearing, then the steering column shaft from steering wheel cage.
5. Remove rubber bushing with upper steering column shaft bearing and washer.
6. Reverse procedure to assemble. Ensure steering column shaft length is 16.42-16.50 inch (417-419 mm).
