The Mitsuba starter, Fig. 1, is a gear reduction type available in 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 KW ratings. It uses a planetary gear train to transmit armature rotation to the pinion shaft. A solenoid switch is mounted on the starter motor.
