At this point in diagnosing the start and stall problem, you have determined that the engine control system is functioning properly and is not the cause of the problem. For this reason, the following should be checked as possible causes of the problem:

1. ENGINE VACUUM -- Vacuum reading must be at least 13 in Hg in neutral.
2. ENGINE VALVE TIMING -- Set to manufacturer's specifications.
3. ENGINE COMPRESSION -- Read within manufacturer's specifications.
4. ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM -- Must be free of restrictions.
5. ENGINE PCV SYSTEM -- Must be free of restrictions.
6. ENGINE DRIVE SPROCKETS -- Cam and Crankshaft.
7. TORQUE CONVERTER STALL SPEED -- Must be within manufacturer's specifications.
8. FUEL CONTAMINATION -- Check for high alcohol and/or water content.
9. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS -- Check for applicable bulletins.
10. ENGINE SECONDARY IGNITION CHECK -- Check for abnormal scope pattern.
