Removal/Installation






1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect two ECM electrical connectors.
3. Remove the ECM mounting hardware.
4. Remove ECM from passenger compartment.

Note: Replacement ECM is supplied without engine calibration unit(s) (PROM, MEM-CAL, CALPAK) and care must be taken when removing the calibration unit from a defective ECM as it will be used in the replacement ECM. PROM - Programmable Read Only Memory Calibration units are not interchangeable and must be installed in some position and direction as in the original ECM.

5. Reverse procedure to install.
Start engine, enter diagnosis and check for code 51. If code 51 does not display, calibration unit is installed correctly. If code 51 is displayed, calibration unit is installed incorrectly and must repeat procedure.
