The steering angle sensor is mounted at the bottom of the steering column in front of the flex coupling. The sensor utilizes two potentiometers to determine the steering angle and rate at which the steering wheel is being turned.

The steering angle sensor receives power (5 volts) and ground from the ADSC control module. As the steering wheel is turned, the two wipers provide a varying voltage input signal back to the control module. The module processes these signals to determine the angle and rate of change of the steering wheel.

If the sensor is replaced or work is performed on the front suspension, the sensor requires calibration. The procedure is carried out with the service functions in the DIS or MoDiC.
