2017 Nissan Rogue
My 2017 Nissan Rogue shudders/vibrates between 15-30 mph, feels like driving over rumble strips. Goes away at higher speeds. 72k miles. Is this the CVT going out? Heard Nissan CVTs are terrible.

The shudder at low speed is the CVT belt slipping. Nissan CVTs (JATCO) are known for this and it's often the beginning of the end. HOWEVER — before you panic, try a CVT fluid drain and fill with genuine Nissan NS-3 CVT fluid. NOT aftermarket universal CVT fluid, it MUST be NS-3. Many owners report the shudder goes away completely after a fluid change. The Rogue takes about 4 quarts for a drain and fill. If the shudder returns after the fluid change, the belt and pulleys are worn and you're looking at a CVT replacement (,500-4,500).

Check if your Rogue is covered under Nissan's CVT extended warranty. They extended coverage to 84 months/100k miles on many models due to the known issues. At 72k and depending on your purchase date, you might be within coverage. Call the dealer with your VIN and ask specifically about CVT warranty coverage before spending a dime.
Went through this exact thing on my 2016 Rogue. Fluid change bought me another 25k miles. When the shudder came back, I sold the car. Harsh truth: if you plan to keep it long-term, budget for a CVT replacement or start shopping for a trade. These CVTs have a lifespan of about 100-120k in real-world use.
